Tuxtla Gutierrez, capital of Chiapas, is located in the Gulf region and southern Mexico, 85 miles east of San Cristobal de las Casas.
Maybe around the year 400 A.C. Some small ceremonial centers emerged in the Tuxtla Valley, but the origin Tuxtleco is much later, in a village called Coyatoc Zoque name the Nahua-speaking peoples as translated Tochtlan Although the expedition of Diego de Mazariegos Conquito passed Tuxtla in 1528, it was not until 1546 when brothers Thomas Spots Alonso Villalba and toured for the first time the province of Zoques, which was part Tuxtla. During the nineteenth century, Tuxtla, with the rank of city in 1829 and Gutierrez, as of 1848, was several times provisional seat of the powers of the state, but it was not until 1892, when the governor Emilio Rabasa ultimately became the capital Chiapas.

Tuxtla Gutierrez is now an interesting option to become, along with Tapachula, in Mexico the door on the southern border. The city and its surroundings offer the visitor unexpected encounters, just to mention the Miguel Álvarez del Toro Zoo, was established to collect and preserve the wildlife of the region, the Museo Regional de Chiapas, and of course the natural beauty of the Canyon Sink, The cascade of Chorreadero and La Venta canyon, the first just 15 km from the capital, the waterfall a half hour, and the sale of 80 km, it recommended only for experienced explorers.
The city of Tuxtla Gutierrez is a myriad of possibilities, because from here you can reach San Cristóbal and Palenque to follow direction, via the waterfalls of Agua Azul, visit the Source of the Queen, in Chiapa de Corzo, known Comitan city colonial tradition of great and excellent cuisine, go to the jungle or to the Lagunas de Montebello, among many other sites of interest.
Chiapas is certainly a delightful space for what it means today at the national level, without forgetting that this is precisely where he heard two unmistakable literary voices: that of Rosario Castellanos, recognized internationally, and the poet Jaime Sabines, whose verses collects images that are present in their everyday world and its existence, and has vibrate like no other contemporary poet, the youth of Mexico.
It is now a city with a modern appearance and rapid population growth, with stations marked by intense heat and strong winds but also by the flowering of trees and parties in their neighborhoods. Immersed in the many aspects of modernity, survive Tuxtla traditional foods, rituals, legends, and vernacular architecture, is more to say, its rich vegetation.
