Tapachula is located in the coastal state in the region called Soconusco, near the border with the country of Guatemala. A 446 Km from the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez, and only 22 km from the border bridge Talisman.
Tapachula is the head of one of the largest municipalities in the state; this city is situated near the foot of the volcano Tacana. With features provincial and modernity, the city itself, suggests architecture of mansions and European features, while maintaining a good part of vernacular elements in housing otate, adobe or cane, with thatched roofs or clay tiles. This city is 120m above the sea and has a current population of 271.141 inhabitants, situated in the region Soconusco, this city is one of the most significant economically as it is located just at the gateway to Central and in the narrow plain of the Pacific. Description
Tapachula is a city with its own personality due its hot and humid weather, the landscape that surrounds it and the lush vegetation, but largely to its traditional architecture, both of its great public buildings like the houses surrounding the first box this beautiful city.

Historic Monuments

Casa de la Cultura. This building denotes the prosperity achieved in the city, is one of the architectural heritages of the twentieth century and opened in 1929. How to get there
Tapachula is considered central point geographically located south of the state as a place of intersection of major roads in the region, to reach this city if one part of the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez should take the Panamerican highway that leads to the town of Arriaga and then we take the coastal road to finish at a approximate distance of 5 hr. If you prefer otherwise scroll the Committee should take part of the Pan American Highway to get to Ciudad Cuauhtemoc, then continue on Highway 211 until reaching the junction of Huixtla, to continue on the coastal road 200, in approximately 4 hours.
Festivities
The International Tapachula Fair. Is considered one of the largest in the State and the Country, held during the month of February, there are exhibitions and livestock farming in other countries and the participation of national artists.
San Agustin Fair. Held in the city of Tapachula of 20 to 30 August, the celebration is to honour the patron saint of the city, with pilgrimages to the various neighbourhoods.
