Papantla, Veracruz "Among the hills of northern Veracruz, with streets that rise and fall as slides, is Papantla, a village of barely 150,000 inhabitants spread over 60 colonies and divisions and 159 stations.
It's a small place compared to Merida, but competes with it in terms of tourism. You have 15 minutes from the archaeological site El Tajin, which is reached through some of the vanilla plantations abound in the area and that in the past brought to this region among the first places in the national map.

"Precisely at this stage of the year begins cutting the fruits of vanilla, which are offered in the markets in the form of pods, liquids of different types, liquor and powder to sweeten" explains Philip Revoredo Santes, councillor of Papantla that on Saturday, 16 was in the presentation ceremony by Monsignor Jorge Carlos Master Wong as coadjutor bishop of the diocese.

"The economy of Papantla is also based on other crops, as well as livestock, trade and services," the official responsible for organizing the celebrations of the bicentennial of Independence and the centenary of the Mexican Revolution.
The centre of the city nestles next to a hill where papantecos erected a monument to one of its symbols tourist-flyers of Papantla, which exceeds in height the towers of the Catholic church, in whose courtyard stands the metallic structure serves to introduce the recreation of the Bird. And attached to that group are the main square, with its kiosk and benches of iron, and the municipal palace, decorated with faces of El Tajin, the market, several hotels, some bank branches and other shops. Some of these occupy land with tile roof, common material in this area.
The town has 10 hotels, two nightclubs, a private college, an agency of motorcycles, shop and two public markets Chedraui. In recent offering combines domestic and foreign products with items typical of the area, such as pumpkin seeds, corn, various fruits, smoked chili and, of course, vanilla.
For if the visitor ignores this fruit, including the town hall and the church is a stone monument which speaks of the legendary pre-Hispanic origins of this plant.
