The Central American tourism in Mexico's southern border has doubled in the same season last year, the president of the Association of Hotels and Motels Soconusco, Abel Perez Bernardino.
In an interview, explained that in December 95 per cent of visitors who have come to this region of Chiapas are from Guatemala and the rest from other nations and within the country.

He noted that apart from this, thousands of Central Americans are coming to the region as tourists trade to take advantage of favourable currency parity.
In other words, he added, come to Mexican border cities for the sole purpose of making purchases, visit a nearby location and returned the same day without taking hotels.
