Quintana Roo Tourism

LandmarksThe main archaeological sites open to the public are:
Tulum. It is the third most visited area of the country and unique because it is situated on the coast and be fortified. It has several temples such as The Castle, built on a bluff, the Temple of God falls, the Temple of the Frescos, where Mayan paintings are seen with their original colours and other minor constructions.
Coba. It is considered one of the most significant archaeological sites for the remains excavated and the potential remains to be investigated. It has the tallest pyramid in the peninsula known as the Nohoch Mul, a house of 9 rows, a playground ball and a Mayan road network.

Museum and Study Center of Mexico Water Sports (CEDAM). Located in Akumal, displays the remains of ships from colonial times that wrecked on the nearby reefs.
Archaeological Museum - Marine Cozumel. Displays the remains of the Mayan civilization on the island and found aspects of the fauna and flora of coral reefs.
Xel Ha Marine Museum is a small museum with marine and archaeological issues in the region.

Parties, Dances and Traditions
The festivities more widespread in the state are the carnival is celebrated before Lent in February or March in all municipalities. In several municipalities, especially those of the Maya and Cozumel area is held in May at the Holy Cross. Costa Maya. It includes the coast of Punta Herrero Xcalac, which are natural beauties and archaeological Caribbean. Currently its tourism development is nascent, but with the introduction of basic services as electricity, potable water and paved roads are expected to be achieved in a short time to introduce this area to the dynamics of state tourism.
